The Origin Story

Proprietor Abby Conklin fulfilled a long-time dream of opening her own sign shop by founding A52 Signs & Graphics in January 2012. The seed was planted during college when she worked part-time at P. Smith Signs, a local sign shop in Knoxville, Tennessee, which was also the graphics business that designed the iconic Lady Vol logo. Abby pursued her creative calling after having worked for a decade as a college basketball coach at multiple Division I programs around the country.

Abby became an Avery Dennison Certified Wrap Installer in 2016. She continues her passion for coaching by providing the A52 Signs vehicle wrap shop as the first and only Northern California host facility for Avery Dennison wrap training workshops that bring world-reknown instructor Justin Pate into town. Abby strives to make sure she is evolving with the industry to grow her skillset and the business. A52 Signs has added Paint Protection Film (PPF) as a coverage option and also is a host for Avery Dennison's PPF installation training program.

Abby has a master's degree in Organization and Leadership from the University of San Francisco. She earned her bachelor's degree at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where she played collegiate basketball for legendary coach Pat Summitt and won two national championships. She is a 2019 Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame inductee. Abby's jersey number was 52, which is the origin of the "52" in the business name.
